Power Celebrates Week of Wellness

Healthy food, fun and fitness have financial impact

Power and Kitestring, celebrated the Third Annual Week of Wellness (WOW) September 25-29. September also marks the beginning of the company’s new health insurance plan year—a time when employees are urged to start their quest to achieve Silver Status in Humana Go365, a personalized wellness and rewards program.

WOW activities help educate employees about living a healthy lifestyle, as well as earn Go365 points toward Silver Status (or beyond, to Gold or Platinum Status). Those points can also be cashed in on the Go365 website for gift cards and fitness-related products. But the biggest payoff comes next May when, if at least 80% of Power’s Humana participants have achieved Silver Status, the company will, as it did last year, receive a reduction in renewal rates for the following year’s health insurance plan.

It’s a big deal, and much planning and effort goes into Power’s Week of Wellness. This year, a WOW committee was formed to help Director of Operations Carla Terwilleger organize educational, entertaining and healthful activities.

WOW kicked-off first thing Monday morning with an all-company meeting and breakfast. Other activities included on-site flu shots, free massages, a healthy cooking class led by a local chef, biometric screenings, a CPR class, a seminar on essential oils, a healthy eating class, and a healthy foods potluck lunch, with a prize for the best dish. Healthy snacks were delivered every afternoon at 2:00, and at 3:30 each day there were group workouts, including yoga, circuit training, walking and guided meditation.

Thank you to all the members of the Week of Wellness Committee: Krista Baldwin, Nicole Burleson, Emilee Crawford, Joel Fenwick, Chris Harkins, Leah Mattingly, Kaitlyn McMillin, Emily Mueller, Jayne Myers, Molly Owens, Zack Selter, Dennis Smiley, Ashley Stewart, and Nick Wunderlin
